The Right Angle

Andy Gurnett

I have worked in learning and development for over twenty years. I spent a large part of that based in Asia and am now in the UK. During that time I have been lucky enough to create and deliver learning solutions for organisations such as BP, Mitsui, APEC, Changi Airport Group, YKK, Singapore Airlines, Chevron, Bloomberg, IDC, Siemens, the Singapore Workforce Development Agency, Air Liquide, RBS Coutts and many more.

As you will see from the site, I specialize in communication and innovation. Leadership communication, influence and impact; team communication; presentation design and delivery; and creative and innovative thinking for teams and individuals.

Running the British Council's Professional Development Centre for several years and spending two years as a Deputy Director working for the Singapore Government's Institute for Adult Learning, I developed a very clear understanding of what people and organisations need to make their learning successful. I love to see meaningful change for the people I work with. That change could be at a process level within an organisation or a sudden burst of awareness for an individual. Effective change means a positive difference the next time you put the new skills, awareness or knowledge into action.

For training to be cost-effective, first and foremost it has to be effective.

My qualifications include a degree in Electronics from the University of Keele in the UK, a post-graduate certificate and diploma in adult learning, and a number of practitioner qualifications in learning tools for team and leadership development. These include DiSC, MBTI, TMP, QO2, The Five Behaviours of a Cohesive Team and the Linking Leader 360 profile.

When not busy helping my clients, I can be found roaming the streets taking photographs. I am a keen abstract photographer and in 2010 shared my ideas on creativity in photography at a TEDx Singapore event. In 2012 I held my first exhibition called 'Accidental Art' and exhibited at the Affordable Art Fair in Singapore in 2013, 2014 and 2015. Also in 2015 I delivered another TEDx session for Changi Airport Group on using photographs as a trigger to support workplace innovation.

I can also juggle balls, clubs, knives and flaming torches and was co-organiser of the British Juggling Convention in 1993. I believe I can teach anyone to juggle in about 10 minutes.
